You need to send money to relatives, children or friends? Money Order is the most affordable and safe service of this type. It is also unique in Romania.
Domestic Money Order allows you to send money to anybody, in every locality in Romania via the postal worker or the postal subunit.
Money orders circulate registered. The postal subunits send at the destination the amount of money entrusted by the sender. Payment is made in cash (RON) or bank account.

Find and fill in the zip code on the letters or postcards you want to send in order to arrive safely at destination.

General delivery (PR)
Accepted for mail items sent to localities that have postal subunits (postal offices, external desks).An additional fee is charged for each item upon posting. For mail items submitted to the postal box, the General Delivery fee may be also cashed upon delivery.The “delivery to addressee only" (personal) service is not accepted.
The postal item is not endorsed.
The postal item is issued to the addressee only after identification and based on a signature.
Acknowledgement of receipt (A.R.)
The sender receives the acknowledgement of receipt attached to the mail item signed by the addressee or it’s consignee, thus confirming the receipt;
An additional price is charged;
The form is attached to the mail item, the letters “A.R.” must be written on the envelope
Electronic delivery confirmation (E.C.) - for domestic mail items
The dispatcher is confirmed the delivery of the mail item at destination at the postal address (headquarters / domicile, P.O.Box, General Delivery) or at his / her electronic mail (e-mail address, e-post box).
An additional price shall be cashed at posting for each mail item.
The service shall be evidenced on the internal mail item package by mentioning “E.C.”
The possibility to modify the initial posting information of a money order or its retreat from the postal circuit before distribution; in these cases the sender has to go to the posting subunit where he posted the money order and present the information to be modified (change of address, addressee, refund).

Money Orders form- individuals
This form includes the coupon and the item
On the coupon, the sender writes the following:
a) The amount of money to be sent, in figures
b) The name and surname of the sender;
c) The complete address of the sender
On the item:
a) The amount, in figures and letters; the letters must be written without spaces between words;
b) The name and surname of the addressee;
c) The complete address of the addressee;
-In the area reserved for “the sender”, on the item, the same data mentioned on the coupon must be written.
-For the cash on delivery money orders, the corresponding area of the form must not be filled with the name and address of the sender; this area is reserved to the postal worker to fill at posting with the appropriate information
(service type) ( posting no from F1 or F4 register)
On the back side of the coupon, in the area reserved for correspondence, the following data can be filled:
a) the name and surname of the addressee;
b) other information that can serve to identify the addressee: date of birth; surname of the parents, etc;
c) details regarding the amount of the transfer.
Requirements regarding the forms:
The forms can be filled by the sender with the same colour of ink, by hand or mechanical writing;
The use of pencil or other instruments that do not ensure a quality writing are not admitted;
Latin letters and Arabic numbers should be used when writing the addresses, without any bolds, corrections or erasures;
In the corresponding column, the sum must be written in letters without spaces between words. For example “onehundredandthirty RON”;
If a typewriter is used for filling the form, the sum will be written by hand in numbers and letters using a pen. For money orders sent by commercial companies electronic typing is admitted even for the sum written in numbers and letters if the dimensions and columns are respected (202x92 mm for dimensions, on both sides , 160 mg/m2 offset cardboard). This is also the case for the acknowledgment of receipt (140x90 for dimensions, on both sides , 160 mg/m2 offset cardboard).
In the case of money orders sent by legal persons through postal workers or agencies located in the rural area, the name and address of the sender is filled by using the stamp of the sender on the adequate area of the form; new legal persons or those temporary who do not yet have stamps are excepted from this provision.
Damaged and dirty money order forms are not accepted. This measure is also valid for those forms filled in ink and paste.

On the back side of the coupon, in the area reserved for correspondence, the following data can be filled: the account number, the name of the beneficiary and the designation of the sum involved in the transfer.
Acknowledgment of receipt form (A.R.)
In order to fill in the data regarding the addresses, the sender can use a stamp containing the necessary information that must be applied in the corresponding areas.
The addresses must be written correctly, completely and legibly, taking in consideration the following order:
a) Addressee/Sender – name and surname, for natural persons, or name in print for legal entities (it is recommended to write also the father’s initial in certain situations);
b) name of the street (avenue, boulevard, street, alley etc.), building number, flat number, entrance, floor, apartment;
c) postal code and locality ( for rural areas firstly is written the locality, followed by the municipality of which is part of)
d) county or district ( if the locality is the county seat and bears the same name as the county itself, the name of the county shall not be written)
e) delivery postal subunit for the money orders addressed to Bucharest.
Money orders are admitted at posting if the address contains the name of two persons living at the same address: for example, Grigore Mihaela or Cornelia Georgescu, Ion Creanga Street no. 14, Focsani, County of Vrancea.
In case the address used for the addressee does not correspond to its residence, when writing the address, the following information should be mentioned, depending on each case:
1. Money orders addressed to an addressee committed to a hospital, sanatorium or another such institution:
On the back side of the form, the column reserved for correspondence are to be written the name and surname of the addressee, names of the parents and other info as for example, the hospital ward, room number etc
2. Money orders addressed to people residing in hostels, boarding-schools or other study institutions:
Money orders is addressed to the receiver;
On the back side of the form, the column reserved for correspondence are to be written the names of the parents (For example: the son of Gheorghe and Maria).
3. Money orders addressed to health resorts:
It is not necessary to mention on the money orders the name of the street or the number of the building. However, the name of the villa, hotel and room have to be provided.
4. Money orders addressed to convicts
The money order is addressed to the prison
On the back side of the form, the column reserved for correspondence is used to write the name and surname of the addressee, date of birth and the names of the parents (for example: Popescu Ion, born on the 3rd of August 1945, son of Vasile and Maria).
5. Money orders addressed to personnel from military units:
The money order is addressed to the military personnel;
In the address, the name of the addressee is preceded by his rank and the designation of the military unit, the postal code, location, county and contact point. For example: soldier first class Catana V. Ion, U.M. 01435, code 105400 Breaza, Prahova County, Breaza Postal Office.
6. General delivery money orders
The writing of the name and surname of the addressee is in accordance with the personal data in the identification documents (possibly mentioning the initial of the father) and in the address has to be mentioned the contact point where the respective item must be received, the postal code and county;
This service can also be used by the sender, in case of return, in exchange for an additional fee indicated in the corresponding tariffs. Mention: this service is not available for addressees committed to hospitals, mental institutions or prisons.
7. Money orders addressed to postal boxes subscribers:
The senders writes down the name and surname of the addressee and in the space reserved for the name of the street,the sender mentions the number of the postal box and the name of the postal unit. For example: Dumitrescu Vasile, P.O Box 213, Brasov 4 Postal Office.
The P.O. Box mention can be used in the same conditions by the sender also.
When the sender does not know the full name of the addressee, it is permitted to mention in the address the surname and the initial of the name. If the sender does not know this either, it is permitted to write only the surname. In both cases, the money orders are admitted if addressed at the work place of the addressee provided that his position is mentioned. This is admitted only for executive functions (manager, deputy manager, chief accountant etc.). For example: Dumitrescu, chief accountant, ABC SRL company, Victoriei Street no. 3, Braila.
The sender writes, both for his and addressee’s address, before the name and surname, the mention “personal” . In this case, the money order, without taking into consideration its value, will be paid only to the sender or the addressee.
Money orders with the “personal” mention are not admitted for addresses committed to hospital, mental institutions, prisons or for those residing in locations where the postal workers don’t have access. This service is not available if it is addressed to two people, even if the persons are residing at the same address.
Money orders that bear mentions such as “for”, “to the family” and those where the names of the sender’s or addressee’s are written in short or using only the initials, are not admitted. Exceptionally, abbreviations are admitted for items addressed to the following institutions: S.N.C.F.R., B.N.R., C.E.C., etc. These addresses however must contain the name and number of the street, except money orders addressed to units located in the rural area. For the money orders addressed to well known legal persons, it is not necessary to mention the name and number of the street.
For money orders sent (without taking into consideration the value) to account holders (mentioned as addressees or senders):
The money order is addressed to the account holder;
The information referring to the addressee must contain the following:
name of the addressee;
the fiscal identification code or tax identification number;
address (street, no., postal code, locality)
IBAN account - written at the Account area;
fiscal obligation code- it is written in the area reserved for the addressee “Account nr……” if the senders or addressees of the money orders have opened account at Treasuries;
the name of the bank and it’s branch.
In case of money orders sent to the state budget in accounts opened at state Treasuries, it is necessary to mention the personal numeric code if the sender is a natural person or the fiscal identification code for legal persons - in the column reseved for the „sender”, after mentioning his name.
On the back side of the form, the column reserved for correspondence is to be written the following: the personal data of the addressee and details about the amount sent
One money order can be used to send money to a sole account.
For money orders having a value higher than 500 RON, the payment is made to the addresse in person only.
A money order is kept at the disposal of the addressee for 10 calendar days. The sender can request an additional 5 calendar days over this period.
